Besides finding myself unexpectedly quoted, the below is a very good summary of what is happening not only in Korean academia but also society. Someone has anonymously posted a comment to this article’s blog which is worth sharing:
“It is also interesting to see how a lot of Korean professors are attacking Nam-pyo Suh. Several KAIST professors do not like Nam-pyo Suh because of the reforms he implemented at KAIST, forcing them to become more productive (‘There’s no good golf player among famous MIT professors.’). Similarly, several non-KAIST professors do not like Nam-pyo Suh because they are afraid that the administration of their respective universities may introduce reforms similar to the reforms introduced by Nam-pyo Suh.”
