Korea Still on Ground as Apple Launches iCloud/Apple Aims at Korea’s IT Heart

Coyner’s Comment:

As the industry alarm bells ring here in Korea, we would be foolish to expect to see Apple devices with iOS5 operating systems going on sale in Seoul come this autumn – unlike other major markets around the world. We may anticipate special regulatory concerns about the safety of the consumers and special, unique consideration of this operating system’s compatibility with South Korean networks.

In time, of course, government approval will permit this next generation of foreign technology to go on sale in Korea. But after how much time? Past history suggests enough time for Samsung, LG, etc. to not only come up with their own copycat devices and operating systems, but also enough time to achieve first in Korean market temporary head starts over Apple.

Of course, old cynical me could be wrong – but do you think I am?
