My odds are ten to one the digital textbooks will not becoming from Apple. While the below account is all good in terms of educational tools/strategies, there is no doubt an additional, strategic consideration in funding the domestic tablet PC industry is part of the Korean manufacturers’ global contest with Apple and other foreign tablet PC manufacturers.
By providing a secure and lucrative domestic market, the ROK government is in effect underwriting Korean technological prowess for both domestic and overseas competitiveness. That is not a bad idea. But it will be interesting to see if foreign tablet providers will ever get a fair chance to bid. My guess is the likelihood of that happening is similar to finding a snowball some place way down below our feet.
